Location: Our Savior's Lutheran Church at 1234 N. Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights

This needlework is from Korea and has a rich history and tradition.  The project for this class will be made of both silk and cotton, with some unique Korean accents.  The project will be demonstrated for both and hand-work and machine. Come join us, bring your machine or you can sew it by hand! Bring your usual sewing supplies.

Required kit: $35, contains two projects–one silk, one raime.  Fee collected during class.

Workshop

Mock Molas!

June 18, 9:30AM-4:30PM

Location: Barrington Area Library at 505 N. Northwest Highway, Barrington

The Mola is a beautiful and colorful art design that is originally from the Kuni people of Panama. Traditionally done with lots of colors, lots of layers of fabric and lots of laborious teeny-tiny needle-turn hand stitches! Our class project will be a Modified Mola that will have the flavor of the original without all of the work.

This is a handwork class, so, no machines. Bring your thimbles and prepare to get addicted to this colorful, fun and very easy technique!

Required kit: $20, collected during class.

Coming May 20-21, 2023 -- The Art of Hope

In this section we’ll keep you updated as Quilt Show plans progress. Keep your eye here… the wheels are in motion for a great show in 2023!

Faces of Hope - 2023 QS Challenge

The official quilt show challenge for our 2023 show, The Art of Hope, has been set.  This one is led by our faithful friend, Joyce Drenth.

She has chosen Faces of Hope, based on a tutorial by Alex Anderson.  This six-session tutorial will help you create an avatar–a facial representation–like the one she did below.

The due date won’t be until 2023, so there’s lots of time to get started! For details, please read the attached PDF.

Volunteers are the Heart of our Show!

Join us as we take on the tasks needed to produce such a large event.  Our Quilt Show Chairs and Committee have been hard at work putting together the early stages of planning the 2023 show.

We are currently filling all the positions necessary to ensure a successful event.  Please reach out to Linda and Renee at quiltshow@nsqg.club to share your ideas, volunteer for a committee, or help with any of the hundreds of tiny details that it takes to put on this major event.  Open Chair and Committees are listed below.  We could use everyone’s help.

  1. Advertising, publicity, and signage
  2. Awards
  3. Registration
  4. Hanging the quilts
  5. Security
  6. Vendors
  7. Raffle quilt travel location coordinator
  8. Take down
