Let’s meet our September speaker, Giuseppe Ribaudo.

Giucy Guice (aka Giuseppe Ribaudo) grew up in his seamstress grandmother’s home in Long Island, NY. He spent a lot of time watching her precision construction of garments for his entire family while his parents worked at their restaurant.

His quilting journey wouldn’t start until he was in college studying acting. He acquired some sewing skills by taking a costuming class at the local community college. Some years later he was introduced to quilting by his first boyfriend–who did it badly. He knew he could do it better based on his experience of watching his grandmother’s technique. He purchased fabric and a pattern for his first quilt–and then he felt it–the spark. When he added in Elizabeth Hartmann’s “The Practical Guide to Patchwork,” he was inspired to make quilts “the right way” and make more deliberate fabric choices.

He began his networking with other quilters on Instagram under the name Guicy Guice. He is known for his vibrant use of color, and his love for putting a modern spin on traditional blocks.

Guicy Guice will be teaching two workshops with us. Both workshops are now open to both members and guests. We have a few spots open in both the Friday (Learn EPP) and the Saturday (Mini Series) workshops. We hope you’ll join us!

On Friday September 16th, get an introduction to English Paper Piecing (EPP), and Giuseppe’s modern version of the traditional Moonstone quilt block.

On Saturday September 17th, students will learn tips and tricks for creating micro quilt blocks and different ways to use them with Courthouse Steps, Pineapple, and Flying Geese blocks from Giucy Giuce’s Mini Series patterns.

The meeting and the workshops are in person! We look forward to seeing you!
