What is a Quilt?
A quilt is typically a decorative hand made textile with three components consisting of a top, a batting and a backing. Quilting is the process of sandwiching together all three layers, typically with quilting thread. A Quilt, and the process of Quilting, can be done entirely by hand, by machine or a combination of both. Quilts are made in every shape and size, for bedding or utility use, for decoration or display you’ll find them made from many different types of materials, however the most common fibers used in quilts are cotton, wool and silk.
