Description

Type: Block Design class with glue basted vines outlining the design.
Style: Individualized, Celtic Inspired.
Technique:  In this class Nancy is going to teach us how to design and make our own 18″ x 18″ tile.  These tiles are part of Nancy’s popular Quilted Tile series on her OnPoint-TV YouTube Channel.  During the class you will learn Nancy’s method of folding and designing your block, Nancy’s Power Cutting technique to cut our bias strips and then we’ll learn how to get the perfect 1/4″ seam to sew our bias strips and press them for our vines.  We will have time to design 2 blocks and go home with one or more blocks basted and ready to applique in the method of our choice.  We are going to use a glue basted technique to adhere the vines and fabric to the blocks.  Any machine applique will be done at home or if you have time towards the end of the day.  You will need your machine to sew the bias strips for making the vines.
Experience:  All Levels

In Person: Hilton Garden Inn, 1191 Woodfield Road, Schaumburg, IL.

Time: 9:30am – 4:30pm

There is no ‘kit’  or pattern fee for this class, please use your own fabrics and basic rulers/supplies as outlined in the supply list.

Workshop Policies

Video or audio recording of class material is strictly prohibited, and may be cause for dismissal from the class without a refund.

Workshop registration is reserved for NSQG members July through September, unless otherwise posted.

No seat in any workshop is reserved until payment has been received.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to in-person classes to set up . For virtual workshops, the link will open approximately 15 minutes prior to class time so you can ensure your connectivity.

Cancellation policy: If NSQG cancels the workshop, it is fully refundable to attendees. If participants cancel attendance at a workshop, it is only refundable if the spot can be filled by another attendee.

For full day workshops, a lunch break of one hour is included. For in-person workshops, lunch is not included in the price. The programs chair will provide details about food policies at the venue.

Be prepared. This includes having all items on the supply list, a sewing machine in good working order, and basic sewing supplies and an extension cord/power strip. Also useful: a small iron and an ironing surface that may be shared with other students.

Silence phones during class. If you need to make or take a call, please exit the classroom.

Visitors are very distracting and are not allowed other than during the lunch break.

If you know you have to leave class early, please try to sit in the back of the room to avoid disturbing the rest of the class.

Please refrain from wearing perfume.
