Description
Type: Raw Edge Applique with Decorative Stitching using one of 4 patterns. Quilted as desired.
Style: Free form.
Technique: The Aboriginal Series Class will have us using multiple techniques. All four of these designs use the same techniques to create them. We will be using fusible raw edge applique, ‘donuting’ each mound and then Ilene will show us how to ‘blanket stitch’ each of these to our design. Ilene uses a 12 wt thread to do the blanket stitches and Ilene uses a tear-away stabilizer on the back to improve the end result of the decorative stitching. The quilts are machine or hand quilted as desired with traditional binding.
Experience: Confident beginner to Advanced
In Person: 1st Presbyterian
Required Pattern Fee: $15-34 if not purchasing a kit (using your own fabrics), prices vary with each design. Purchase in class or on-line.
Optional: Feel free to use your own fabrics, however kits are available and Ilene will bring them with her to class. Each kit will INCLUDE the pattern for that design as well as the fabrics for the design. The rest of the items needed are on the supply list. The kits range in price from $30 (Hills) to $90 (Moonlight).
