Sew-In Retreats

Three times a year, members of the Guild meet for a weekend of sewing, inspiration, guidance, laughing, eating and a whole lot of fun at the Hilton Garden Inn – Lake Forest! Sleeping is optional. Participants work on their own projects and, although we do not have a special teacher for these retreats, occasionally someone will demonstrate a new tool or technique.

The $60 fee covers your portion of the ballroom rental, which is our sewing room for the weekend. We get a special block room rate at the hotel, arranged through our retreat coordinator. At checkout, you will need to pay the hotel directly for your guest room, whether it is a single or shared room.

Some things to note:

  • The sewing room is available from 8 AM Friday to 6PM Sunday. You may come and go as your schedule allows.
  • You will have your own sewing table, and there are shared cutting tables and irons provided by the hotel.
  • Bring all the supplies for your project, including cutting tools and a light. (If you forget something, there is a Joanne Fabrics nearby.)
  • The cost of your room and meals are not included in the registration fee. Rooms are approximately $95 plus tax for double occupancy and come with a coffee maker, refrigerator, and a microwave. The hotel has a lovely restaurant, and there are dozens of meal options nearby.
  • DO NOT MAKE YOUR OWN RESERVATION!!!! All room reservations are handled through the retreat coordinator. If you have any questions about your reservation, please contact her through retreats@nsqg.club. If you contact the hotel on your own, you may end up making an additional reservation, for which you will be responsible.
  • When you send in your reservation, please be sure to let us know if you have a preferred roommate. We turn in our rooming list three weeks prior to the event.​

To register for one of our upcoming retreats, mail a check for $60 plus the registration form (coming soon) to the address in the page footer no sooner than the following dates.  Availability is first come, first served, and is determined by postmark. Or use the new online registration option, located at the bottom of this page.

Retreat space is limited to 30 participants. Our system ensures everyone in the guild has a fair opportunity to lock in a spot. If you mail your checks prior to the dates listed above, people who follow the rules will be considered first. In the event of a wait list, postmarks will be the determining factor for order. 

Online reservations for the November 8-10 retreat

We are excited to offer online registration for the November retreat in addition to our regular mail-in registration. You may use either method. (Mail-in registrations will use their postmarks to determine order of receipt, online registrations are date stamped. ) When registration is available on September 3, a link will appear below to our new registration form and payment pages.
